Whether you’re still finishing off your April book, have moved into your May read or are reading something else entirely, we love hearing what our Mid Sussex Reading Challenge followers are reading. You can check out the full list of challenges here.
In April, we challenged you to read a children’s classic, and Sarah from East Grinstead chose The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis – a well known and beloved classic first published in 1950. Sarah rated it 4 out of 5 – check out her review below!

I delved into a very pleasant form of escapism in April and was taken back to my childhood with a visit to the magical land of Narnia.
This was a book and audio cassette in my memory from childhood, so much so, I could hear the cassette narrator’s voice in my head whilst reading the book!
C.S. Lewis leads you straight into the action, as we follow the adventures of four siblings who are evacuated to a large county house during the war and who discover a little more than fur coats in a wardrobe!
The author’s rich imagination sees us meeting vibrant, interesting and unusual characters as good triumphs over evil.
I enjoyed being “lost” for a while in Narnia and would recommend the book. It is certainly a children’s classic! So, it has to prompt the question, “What’s in the back of your wardrobe?”
What children’s classic did you read for the April challenge? Or perhaps you read something else, such as your wildcard (to reread your favourite book)?
