Kickstart your reading in 2020!

Welcome to the Mid Sussex Reading Challenge 2020. Are you ready to get reading?

Welcome to the Mid Sussex reading challenge blog, run by West Sussex Libraries. This is where we’ll be posting book lists for each month, book reviews from local readers and information about upcoming events.

For full information about the challenge, including how to sign up and our FAQ, have a read through our Challenge Overview.

Here’s a reminder of the monthly challenges:

January: Book that has been adapted into a film
February: Collection of short stories
March: Book set in another country
April: Children’s classic
May: Non-fiction book
June: Book under 200 pages
July: Debut novel
August: Book based on real people or events
September: Banned book
October: Book recommended by a friend or librarian
November: Prize-winning book
December: Book published this century

WILDCARD: Substitute any month of the challenge by rereading your favourite book

Whether you’re joining us to kick start a reading habit, get out of reading rut or simply because you love to read, we’re looking forward to celebrating our love of reading with you. Which month are you looking forward to the most? Tell us in the comments section below!

You can also keep in touch by joining our Facebook group or tweeting us @WSCCLibraries with the hashtag #MidSussexReadingChallenge.

Would you like to contribute a book review to our blog?

One of our favourite things to do is chat to readers about their books, and a great way to share your love of reading with others is to submit a review for publication on our blog. They don’t need to be long (we recommend a maximum of 300 words) and can be on any book for any month of the challenge. Check out last year’s reading challenge blog for some examples of the type of reviews people have sent in, and submit your own review here!
